It's now our last night in Tampa. Very interesting meeting... After 6 years with the company, and a year with a lot of transition we finished up 2019 with a great profit. However, the near freezing temperatures here seem to be a much closer representation to the mood shared by many co-workers. After just giving up our Cadillac health insurance, company cars, and reduced vacation, this was the first meeting with our newest CEO at the helm. Sales meetings in the past have been a highlight to many, and in good years the company would do things even nicer... This was the first year activities (golf, fishing, message...) have been eliminated from the agenda and the first time we haven't shared a nice dinner together, eating all meals cafeteria style... Hours after being recognized for 15 years of service, one of the district sales managers suddenly quit after dinner the last night and this morning our meeting began with the new CEO announcing to the group that the DSM was no longer with the company and explaining that he had mistreated a customer. Many top performers have left recently and some to join the competition, and just before receiveing their bonuses. Its hard to guage how much, but moral has been impacted. Will the new hires be able to keep up sales and grow in 2020, with so many long standing salesmen leaving? Will there be another group walk away after bonuses are paid? Well we'll know in a few weeks!
