Walked North Table Mesa again this morning. Sounds like there are many Forrest fires in the mountains. It smells like a campfire outside, and the sky is very hazy. I've been trying to walk the trail M-F at dawn so I can watch the sunrise, and take a few photos. Although the trail has gotten much busier since COVID and the mountains bikes occasionally attempt to run me over, hiking the trail as the sun rises over the city is a great way to begin the day.
Nikki went back to school this week teaching special needs at local public middle school. Sounds like a big mess. Many of the teachers feel unsafe with COVID, and are facing many more job duties while being told the school districts have no money so they may need to furlough teachers to avoid a budget shortfal. Meanwhile parents are concerned about the safety of their children and families should the children bring COVID into their homes. Parents have work expectations and need to be sure they have a plan if the schools close again. Many school administrators also seem to be in a pickle. They have angry parents to deal with who don't like the new COVID policies, and must now accommodate all teachers and students choice to go to school in person or learn online.
Elections will soon be here and with 45 in office this one could be a doozy! A lot of people including yours truly seem to be on edge between the ongoing COVID issues, drama with 45, record unemployment, a devistaed economy, coupled with a near record high stock market... Kind of hard to get your head around this in the moment, but it seems that TRILLIONS of dollars in deficit spending each month would eventually have to come to an end. So the big question is how long will the deficit spending party last, and who will be the ones responsible to pay back these debts?
Wow! Seems like lots of big issues in the moment as we go back to school.
